His contributions extend beyond academia, with recent leadership roles as the Governor of the Tennessee Chapter of the American College of Cardiology and President of the American Heart Association Mid-South region. Notably, he serves as the team cardiologist for the Memphis Grizzlies and is actively involved in research with numerous national and international institutions highlighting his commitment to both professional and community healthcare.
Dr. Jefferies’ distinguished career is underscored by his comprehensive training at the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas, where he completed combined pediatric and adult cardiology programs at the Texas Children’s Hospital and the Texas Heart Institute. A prolific author and editor, Dr. Jefferies has spearheaded leading textbooks on cardiology and boasts a remarkable portfolio of over 300 peer-reviewed manuscripts and book chapters.
With a multifaceted academic background, Dr. Jefferies earned his MBA from the prestigious Wharton Business School of the University of Pennsylvania, specializing in Management and Entrepreneurship & Innovation.
